The Best Coaches in Jujitsu Are Not Athletes
Most coaches that you'll find in brazilian jujitsu are former or retired competitors. It seems to me like a lot of the best coaches actually aren't athletes themselves. There is probably some correlation between skill as an athlete and being a coach, though i'm not sure it's necessary. But there is definitely a trend in many sports to make the presumption that the better that lat the better teacher.
