The number of languages will be down to at least 2,000 within a century's time. There are lots of languages with millions of speakers for which we just don't have good language technology. The educational system in some countries is that people are still being schooled in English or French right? And there's no easy way to make it even in the current world because we just don’t have the kind of data resources to do so.
