I don't love the term rock bottom because it implies there is a bottom and for many people there is no bottom, meaning it's just a free fall that never ends. So I've known lots of friends who have died, who've gone to jail, who have gone through things that would cause most people to do anything to avoid and they just keep using. It also means things have to get to a certain level of bad before you decide to change. The question isn't really, is it bad? How bad is it? Is it bad enough? The question is Would my life be better without it? And that's a real reframe.
