Biomass is any plant material at all. When you often hear about biomass being used for energy, it's wood predominantly. They will use agricultural waste in some cases. Agricultural waste doesn't burn like wood and has a much low burning temperature. It creates a lot of ash and ash is not a good thing in this case.
