The Importance of Candor on Twitter
Twitter was a way to interact with Russians in Siberia or more monsk in the north or Chechnya that I never got to most of those places. That was very, they'd never talked to an ambassador before and Twitter would allow me to do that. This was another way to look into Russian society, what was happening on social media. A lot of traditional diplomats hadn't done that before. They just were reading the newspapers, watching TV, but there's this whole other place.
