The Importance of a Healthy Diet

In a modern world it is not possible to fully compensate for all the deficiencies of a modern diet, we add some nutrients to compensate. That includes fish oil to compensate for our inability to consume ad lib quantities of fish because of mercury toxicity or shellfish because of cadmium toxicity. We supplement iodine because all humans need iodine for their thyroid function and other effects. And we take steps to rebuild a healthy gastrointestinal microbiome by frequent consumption of fermented foods like kimchi or kombucha or fermented sauerkraut.
