Are We Living in a Bad Science Fiction Novel?

Everybody has a job in these countries. Not nesarily a good job, but a job of some sort. There's just no evidence is happening so far. But for hundreds of years now, literally hundreds of years, people have been scared of being put out of a job by automation. And that the mass obsolescence of humanity has not happened yet, but i can't guarantee it won't happen sometime. Maybe it will, and we don't know.
