The History of Electric Cars

The Ford Model T was the first affordable car. It cost $825, which is today's equivalent of about $18,000. An electric car cost around three times as much and petrol cars started to dominate. Tesla launched its first all electric sports car in 2008. The Roadster could go for almost 400km on a single battery charge. And it could go from 0 to 60mph in 3.7 seconds. In the past 15 years or so, almost every manufacturer has released an electric car. Some have sold very well, things like the Nissan Leaf - others are awful.
