The Importance of Sunrise and Sunset in the Islamic Calendar
The issue of sunrise and sunset is critical to the observance of Ramadan. Shia Muslims tend to define it by how much light is still in the sky or from dusk tailed on. The other major difference between Sunni and Shia is when they celebrate Le'latt al-Khatar, which is considered to be the holiest day of the year. This is held that this took place on an odd number day during the last 10 days of Ramadan.
