Keir Starmer's Pro Bono Death Penalty Work

Starmer's practice would have been virtually 100% legal aid. He became very well known for doing pro bono death penalty work. But it wasn't the death penalty which gave Starmer his first brush with national fame. In 1990, two activists Helen Steele and David Morris were sued by McDonald's. They couldn't afford a lawyer so decided to represent themselves. Luckily, one Keir Starmer came along early and volunteered to give them legal advice.
