Stuff You Missed in History Class
Jack Johnson - A History of Boxing
John Arthur Johnson, or Jack, was born March 31, 1878, in Galveston, Texas. His parents were former slaves who educated all six of their kids working as a school janitor and a laundress. He became a voracious student of history with a particular fondness for Napoleon. And he also played bass fiddle, loved classical music, and invented stuff. We should have put him in our earlier podcast on- Unlikely inventors. It would have been a good one.
