I think emotion and motivation come very naturally to organize behavior, even behavior that historically has been thought to be independent of these factors. So certain things have value because of its integrity of the agent that will not be maintained if it does not consider those factors. Perhaps to navigate worlds that are not limited by factors such as space and time in ways that biology faces and limited resources,. perhaps the games kind of change and so maybe we can't get by with many kind of other architectures. Maybe it's what surprises us that we can get a lot more done by just brute force.
