The Authorship of Revelation

I was taught that the author of Revelation was not the apostle John but another significant early church leader named John. Is there any reason to question the authorship of this book? There's some scholars who argue that that it refers to some other John. Personally I don't think it matters. I take the book to be inspired whether it was the apostle John or different John. It's in the canon and it communicates to us a profound, beautiful truth.
