Elizabeth Holmes and the SEC Charged With Fraud
In March 2018, the Securities and Exchange Commission charged Holmes and Balwani with massive fraud involving more than $700 million in total. Elizabeth faced 11 charges of defrauding patients, doctors, and investors, specifically. She began pinning the fraud on her ex, Sonny, and claimed that he'd been emotionally verbally and physically abusive. Many found it pretty hard to believe Holmes' allegations after everything she'd done. Even if she had been manipulated, how could she genuinely believe that the Edison worked as she claimed until 2016?
