We were not decades away from a technological singularity, but from a great political reset. Sullivan's argument veered off track the moment it mistook Plato's musings for actual political science. To ignore Plato's findings and warnings without solid empirical evidence contradicting them doesn't seem like a wise thing to do. I sincerely hope that in the coming years scholars will finally undertake a comprehensive analysis of not just the polis inventory, but also other historical data on democracies.
