The Importance of Metabolic Interaction in Artificial Intelligence

Allison: One of the things that I think had a big impact on my thinking when I was working on the life cycle of software objects was this book called creation by Steve Grand he's a computer programmer and his sort of I guess his specialty is artificial life. He actually makes the argument that something cannot be intelligent unless it is in some sense alive which I find very interesting. Allison: Can you recommend a work of fiction that has helped you think through like some of the themes that you address in your research or have some work that has otherwise inspired you in this scholarship that you do?
