There are about 700 different species of bacteria in our mouth at any given time. Your mouth roof bacteria will be very different to your cheek bacteria, for example. And they just live on different continents within your face. We've got a unique oral microbiome that started building up basically from the moment you were born. If your mother had gum disease or was a smoker, you are more likely to be born with pathogens in your mouth which dispose you to cavities and stuff. So eating sweets, kids listening?
