How to Think About Loneliness
The way in which we think about loneliness seems to come from the enlightenment idea that being alone isn't necessarily a great thing because they have this push of sociability. Do you think there's other ways that we can think about loneliness which would be a bit more effective in our understanding of it? Yeah I think one dimension of social relations is time that you can define loneliness as a former soldier but goes on for longer than you would wish it to be. So intermittent loneliness is very trivial and very widespread over a lifetime. Damaging loneliness is probably maybe 5% of the population and is much more acute and does require us to address it and to reduce it as far as we can.
