Is the Universe Predictable?
You wrote a book with alexander pruce recently called necessary existence. And you give a really interesting defence of the principle f sufficient reason, as you put it. In my debate with alex o'connor, again, that's cosmic sceptic, i simplified this argument by saying that basically, the universe is predictable. A tiger doesn't just jump into a room. It has to come from somewhere and be placed there. There's got to be some reasonable explanation. Yet this sort of deepest explanation is going to be in terms of this principle of explanation - contingent things don’t just exist without some explanation beyond them. That explanation then accounts for the order of things.
