The Repression of Sexuality in the Victorian Era

Foucault writes that if sex is repressed that is condemned prohibition non-existence and silence then the mere fact that one is speaking about it has the appearance of a deliberate transgression. The Victorian bourgeoisie where sexuality was carefully confined moved into the home but this narrative around sexuality as something that was repressed in the Victorian era served another function than simply homogenizing people or controlling people rather it spurred on a kind of insurgent attitude.
