There are a lot of parallels in this book to what's going on now in ukrane. And were you conscious of a kind of folding that bigger story into it? Absolutely, and the bigger story could not wuld certainly not be ignored. I remember thinking, ok, i need to stay blod in somehow, because it's impossible to wak and shut the world out.
