The History of the Gobots

Gobots got their start like many great transforming robot toys in Japan, in a toy line called Machine Robo that was released in 1982 by Poppy. The company's name is a play on the words hope and happiness. They would later be reabsorbed into Bandai, but they have an interesting history. In 1991, Hasbro would acquire the rights to the go bots from Tonka, although they haven't really done that much with them.
