The Dangers of Face Recognition Technology

A lot of investigative photos are not perfect quality. Someone who's seeking to be identified is not necessarily looking at the camera, their eyes might be closed. In research conditions, some algorithms perform really well. But we also know that the algorithms out there have disparate false match rates by skin tone and race against whom a match is trying to be run. We've seen the consequences of those false matches in the real world. I think face recognition is the most troubling and the most prone to abuse, but there's a lot to be concerned about with other technologies too.
