The Importance of CD39 in Cancer

One of the molecules that comes around a lot when it comes to characterizing this exhausted, disoveractivated phenotype is CD39. That's the understanding I have about the importance of C39. The idea is that the CD39 together with the molecule CD73, which is expressed on these cells and all their cells are present in tumor-like environment, is going to ultimately induce production of adenosine. If you manipulate the balance between ATP and adenosine, that's going to somehow skew T-cells to our more function versus less function.
