The Relationship Between the State and the Caliphate

I want to ask you about that from historical perspective, but also what we can learn from the West if we can learn anything. In modern states, there is a very strong relationship between the citizens and the leader. Was that the way in which the Caliphate transpired in Islamic history? Okay. So for instance, a lot of power rests with the element because by definition, the Caliphate is a Sharia governed state,. Who are the gatekeepers of the Sharia? It's not everyone. Scholars have a frontline role. And could these scholars in different regions have different sense? Absolutely. There's a number of layers here.
