Aristotle's idea of substances is like it lives on with many things that we're doing. And Aristotle distinguishes the mode of being of what is often translated as a heap, sort of just a random collection of things stuck together versus a substance. Each individual leaf might be a substance. But anyways, this idea of substances are very present at hand kind of materials. It's really, really interesting.
