Filmmaker says film and psychoanalysis have in a way the same birthday of 1895. Both inventions, you know, I mean, psychoanalysis is in many ways an invention. And so is cinema. Lacan was returning to Freud's inventive spirit by Levi Strauss and Surin Kojev. The dominant American form of psychoanalysis at that time dominated as they did many fields at that time.
