P v NP

In Our Time

CHAPTER

Is P Equal to NP?

If P was equal to NP, you could claim all of the claim mathematics prizes because you'd be able to run your little bit of code and generate short proofs for all of the remaining ones. I think we don't have some sort of model of an imaginary computer that solves NP problems with these. So I don't think that's really an analogy to be drawn there, exactly. Now we've got our model of computation and we've got computers. Is there any... just a Turing imagined the whole kabush? It must be too chauvinistic about it, but we're using him as a clear... There was another American chump. But never he imagined it.
