What Would Mill Have Thought of a Thief?
Milton Mill would not have thought that anybody ought to be in the position of having to steal a tinsel with bread to prevent their family from starting. The idea of the tyranny of the majority, I think Mill actually got from Tocqueville and his two volume work, Democracy in America. So where does Milton see a role for the state? And I don't know, it seems like a difficult thing for me to grapple with.
