Index Funds - Are They Really the Investment Answer?

Is there really no better way to invest? We have this packaged solution, invest and forget by as many units as you can. And we have an absolute mountain of evidence and research papers that have concluded time after time that active fund managers that are trying to beat their index are just an expensive rip off. The wise investor, the financial and investing, literate thinks in multi decades. There is a tiny percentage of these fund managers that beat the index. When they beat the index over a meaningful period of time through luck or judgment, they are then known as star managers. It's very hard to in advance pick star fund managers. So anyway, let's move on.
