Learning French and Other Endangered Languages
In 1921, it was mandated that English be spoken and taught. Some people were punished if they spoke either Louisiana, or French or Louisiana Creole in school. They encouraged the children to speak English as opposed to Cudi Dini or Louisiana, French. Later on, I would always want to learn how to speak. But I was told, well, when you get in high school, you can learn French. And then we'll teach you the way we speak the language.
