The Advantages of Batting in First Class Cricket
When you don't bat in the top four, first class cricket is test cricket. It's very rare to have a first class team where they have three bowlers of the ability to keep pressure on a top level batter all the way through. The idea is that the best way to be tested as a first class player is up the order. So certainly I would say get as high if you want to play test cricket, get as high up the order as possible. He probably gets dropped quicker because he's not as good in the field or he can't run runs for other people but when you are that good with the bat, it's hard to argue.
