Planetarity and Globalism
Postcolonial writer Gayatri Chakra Vorti Spivak wrote about planetarity in her 2002 book Death of a Discipline. She opposed the abstraction of globalization, which he saw as the imposition of the same system of exchange everywhere. The planetary perspective embraced by Spivak is paradoxically and importantly always partial. How is this responsibility to be experienced, enacted or perhaps negated?
