How to Write a Book About Australia
I read them in English but then I also tried to interview people and I was in a position of privilege because I know a lot of people who lived through that time. My father shared with me not just what happened during that summer but details that were fascinating like the kinds of shoes they were wearing the music the kids were listening to. He kept telling me you know you better get the street names right and the geography right so all of that is very real, even though it's fiction this part needs to be true as well.
