Shugendo is a religious system that, um, forms in japan. Its historical development has been kind of posited at different points in history. It was actually banned by the maji government in the beginning of the maji period,. And practitioners were banned from participating in any related practices for a while. Eventually, in the early twentieth century, thiit began to loosen up a little bit and then it was fully recognized as a religious organization after World War II.
