Labour lost a small number of seats in two thousand and 17. The decline in the labor vote, in what is now euphemistically called the red wall seats, has been going on for a very long time. You can never put one issue down as why an election result was what it was. It begs the question, why you lost then? Because you sound like your saying, if it weren't for the rules of the game, i wouldn't have lost. But those are the rules.
