The Famine in the Land
Ruth is a non-Israelite who gets her name chosen to be beyond this, this Old Testament book. There's some language that's introduced here which is going to be picked up later on. One of these is in the very first verse, it says there was a famine in the land. That particular Hebrew phrase only found in two places and they're both in the book of Judges.
