Testosterone and progesterone slow down release of hormones that stimulate sperm production. The first large-scale trial to test whether this combo would be safe was launched in 2008. Out of the 266 couples participating, there were just four pregnancies or 1.57 pregnancies for every hundred users. 99% of all the side effects reported were mild or moderate. One volunteer did die by suicide during the trial, but the tragedy was investigated and found to be totally unrelated to the study.
