The Importance of Taking Your Best Shot
With the MPC 60, the sampling drum machine that I made with the car back in released in 1998, we put sampling in and computer memory was still fairly expensive. So we put in 13 seconds of mono sampling time, expandable to a whopping 26 seconds. And they would say, well, can we have more memory? And I said, how much would you like? And I'd say, I don't know, two minutes, three minutes, something like that. But obviously, that became the basis for a lot of music creation - being able to stand on the shoulders of giants.
