The Third-Way Idea in the New Deal
FDR's advisors were part of this sort of third-way idea. They thought capitalism was fundamentally flawed and they saw what they were doing as about a third way. It was imitating what they'd seen in Italy and Germany. Mussolini and FDR were mutual fans of each other because they were doing the same kind of stuff.
