The Risks of Sexual Abuse in Children
Family structure is the most important risk factor in child sexual abuse. Children who live with two married biological parents are low risk for abuse. Risk increases when children live with step parents or a single parent. Females are five times more likely to be abused than males. The age of a male being abused also plays a part.
