What Kind of People Turned the Dial Up?
I remember researching this famous experiment where people were sort of tricked into thinking that they were being told to cause pain to other people. This was done in the 60s. They wanted to see how high they would turn up the electricity if they were given instructions by an official looking older person and, you know, probably a white doctor's outfit with a stethoscope or whatever,. An authority figure. And what they found was that a lot of people did in fact, they would torture other people if they were told to.
