The more trained people get, there does seem to be a correlation between the amount of muscle they have and their strength performance. We see that in data comparing men and women, men on average are stronger than women. But when you actually correct for amount of lean body mass that tends to disappear in general. The one time it doesn't really disappear entirely is when you're looking at upper body strength performance in women.
