A Poem About Breast Cancer, Small Moon Curve

Rishi: My mother was gravely ill, and she was ill all her life. She died in her sixties, but when I think of my mother I think of her as consumed by illness. Here we have a poem that is really facing death and serious illness head on with a kind of great stoicism. And the other thing that is so important to me about this poem is that when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 So here in this poem it's like a language of love, the cough, they are coughing backwards and forwards,. It's wordless, it's a connection, and she's pointing to this idea that whatever we face, we're not alone.
