We meet Anna in verse 36 and 37, and this Anna was a prophetess. Incredible title when put in the female form. She had been worthy, moral, chaste, was married, but only was able to enjoy married life for seven years. And then she was a widow of about four score and four years. Now we just met Simeon who had been waiting for the consolation of Israel. Well what about this sweet old lady that had been waiting so long for some personal consolation? It's hard to be a widow in any age, but in ancient Israel particularly, as we met so many in the Old Testament and who will care for her? Well, God will.
