The Mysterion: A Memoir of Love
Rumi is not unique in Sufism or in the Islamic tradition. He's not new or original, maybe what's original about him is the creativity with which he expresses the fundamental truths that have been part of Sufism. So here's a short poem I think it epitomizes Rumi. My religion is to live through love. The blade of love cuts away what covers the lover's soul. Love sord severs sins. When the bodily grime is gone, a shining moon appears,. spirits moon in a wide open sky. "I beat this drum of love for so long, for you whom I adore singing"
