The Dishonest Studio Technique

Many in the classical world, particularly those of an older generation, considered this technique to be generally musically detrimental. They claimed that it was dishonest, that it disrupted the long line, or the emotional cohesion of our performance and similar complaints. Gould provoked controversy by predicting that the public concert would die out and be replaced by electronic media. He also endorsed all manner of allegedly dishonest studio techniques including splicing multiple takes together.
