Is It Your Job as a Creator to Filter Your Influences?

I am just a huge believer in leaning in to the fact that we are all part of the creative, collective conscieuc you kow. The idea that you're not standing on the shoulders of giants is just totally ridiculous and very detrimental to your practice. I think if you go study your heroes, study the great you're going to find that almost every single one of them started with mimicking their heroes. There's nothing like getting in a room of people that are just like you to see how much you are unlike anybody else. And i actually do believe that it is your job, and it's your se as a creator, to filter your story and your new ideas through those
