In his new book, "Loved and Transformed," Marty Greene explains why building the right product matters first. He says in most companies that aren't very good at making products, they waste their time on roadmaps which are never going to deliver any results. That leads to 90% of a company's work being wasted by engineers who don't understand what customers really want.

Instead of being given a roadmap of features, an empowered team is given a problem to solve and they get to figure out the best way to solve that problem."
