The Role of Sleepwalking in Neurologic Conditions

Most commonly, they're normal children without underlying neurological issues is the case with REM sleep behavior disorder. There can be some major triggers and we know that sleep deprivation, acute illness, these can be triggers because oftentimes this leads to a rebound of stage N3. Other things such as primary sleep disorders that lead to a partial arousal from sleep can be a risk factor as well. And then most of them can be treated non-pharmacologically if you address these triggers,. If you make sure they're getting enough sleep, if you have a safe sleep environment.
